Thur 24th
Up at the crack of dawn, repack and two taxis to the station, it looks like we're either lost or getting mugged as we bounce around some loading yards, it looks like the former as we find ourselves back on the main road and end up at the ststion. $20 per taxi. Check in is quick and painless, although Liz and Paul apear to be allocated two double rooms for Kamloops, just time for coffee then it's all aboard.
The weather is fairly grotty but it does clear up throughout the day, most of our fellow passengers are on an organised tour, their slightly annoying rep spends most of her time giving them information that they seem able to forget with remarkable speed. Michael is in charge of our cabin and serves breafast, lunch and afternoon snack. Throughout the journey he points out places of interest.
The scenary throughout is stunning. It's a little trick getting decent photos from a moving train, not least of all because there's always some git who sticks his head in front of your lens, just as you push the button. If I have a complaint about the train it's that the vestibles could have been bigger. Not that I'm complaining, it was a great trip.
At 19:00 arrive in Kamloops, the rest of the people from our coach have to be virtually roped together and led to the bus to ensure they get on the right one!! Despite the warnings from the annoying travel rep it did not appear to be a hell hole, in fact very pleasant and no signs of muggins.
Went to Ricks bar and grill as advised by Michael and food was excellent.
